It is a natural tendency that when the flow of your energy is normal through every chakra and between all the chakras, you take better care of yourself, you have self-confidence, you express your feelings and thoughts in a better way and you have copious creative energy and inner strength to manifest your dreams. For instance, we are designed to wake up early morning with the rising sun and let it’s rays fall on our body for our physical as well as mental well-being. Those who don’t follow this discipline deprive themselves of Prana from the sun. It blocks the Manipura Chakra located on the navel which is governed by the sun. Overeating and hoarding for example, blocks the Muladhara Chakra. Not being able to forgive blocks the Anahata Chakra, self-doubt imbalances Swadhisthana, holding back your expression blocks the Vishudha, non-acceptance affects the Ajna and lack of faith blocks the Sahasrara Chakra. Beneath all these actions and emotions are fear and illusions that veil you from your true whole self.
Unblocking your chakras and ensuring a smoother flow of energy also enhances your natural immune system and you can deal with your stress in a better way. It also sharpens your intuition and makes you realize the purpose of your birth in this world.
There are many ways to work with your chakras. All the paths of healing, whether it is Energy work, Crystals, Rudraksha, Meditation, Mantrachanting,ColourorAromatherapy works on chakras. Chakra Yog focusses on opening of chakras through the lessons they are designed to teach you. It is a deeper, permanent and irreversible way of opening the chakras.
Those seeking to understand the functioning of the chakras should remember that the lessons of chakras are not infinite. They are finite and can be covered by an individual in his lifespan.
There is nothing mysterious about the ways in which the chakras function. If you have the desire, the orientation and the sincerity of unravelling the universe of the chakras, it will be bestowed upon you. You can achieve the knowledge of the chakras in this life, and learn how you ought to live your life on this earth and realise your wholeness.
What are Chakras?
Whether in yoga class, meditation or when interested in spirituality, one will definitely hear about the Chakra system, Chakra alignment or Chakra balancing. Chakras are primary energy centres of the human body, which circulates and give life to the body. There are 7 primary Chakras and each chakra is represented by a specific shape, color, symbol, frequency sound wave and location in the body. The 7 primary Chakras namely Muladhara, Swadhisthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna and Sahasrara are located along the spine from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra is connected to a different aspect of our existence, and therefore each has an impact on different parts of our well-being on a physical, emotional, spiritual and energetic level. The seven Chakras are part of the subtle human body or the energy body. Thus we cannot see or touch them but they influence every aspect of our existence which is mind, body and soul.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning "wheel" or "disc". It therefore designates a disc, animated with a rotary movement representing the energy center at a part or at a point of our body. There are 7 primary Chakras, aligned on the axis of the spine through which, the vital energy circulates and ensure optimal working of the human body and mind. Each of the 7 Chakra corresponds to a main nervous center and vital organs of the body and it affects the part it represents on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. A block or drop in energy at the level of a Chakra can therefore result in both emotional as well as physical issue. On the other hand maintaining the balance of vital energy it allows one to have a healthy body and be perfectly in harmony with the mind and the spirit. This is why the Chakras are so important and significant and the study of these energy centers of the human body, their lessons, practical knowledge and deep understanding about the effect of balanced and unbalanced Chakras, reasons for blockages and methods to balance them can be regarded as Chakra Science.
Why Chakras get imbalanced?
Chakras can get imbalanced due to various reasons. Fears or negative experiences can cause the energy of the associated Chakra to get blocked. Also when we hold on to negativity or low vibrations for a prolonged period of time we block the Chakras. The Chakras are sensitive to ambient energies and can close or open depending on them. For example, if a child has grown up in a somewhat oppressive environment where the expression of emotions was not encouraged, then his Vishuddha or the throat Chakra will tend to remain blocked even through his adulthood and can result in recurrent ailments of throat. A chakra could be blocked by being in an underactive or an overactive state. So repression of communication is an underactive state and talking too much is an overactive state for the Vishudha or throat chakra. The reasons they go out of balance are unhealthy lifestyle choices, mental stresses, negative emotions and fears.
